Now thats a
great race - the Pro Mod Superbowl
- with 11 cars in attendance
for the fastest door slammer
contest well it was sure fun!
Wayne Smiths Nitrous 37 Chevy
was flyin with a best of 7.27
189mph! Wayne Roberts topped
the field with an off the throttle
7.12 at only 160mph. The Camaros
new (old junk rebuilt) hemi
motor gettin a breakin / shakedown
pass - not bad for the ol right
lane eh? A lot of classy cars
were at WIR saturday including
Larry Farbers slick new 57 Chevy,
Mike Bruins new 55 Chevy, Rick
Crains new 68 Mcamis body Camaro
(fresh out of the Holzman Race
Cars shop), Mike Coopers Bickel
Built 63 Pontiac, Dave Rivers
Camaro, WR Buck with Ed, Wes
and Tim Buck, Dan Harry, Rick
Parrott, Jim Kruegers 69 Yenko
Nova - geez I could go on forever
- if you were there you know
what I mean - if not wow you
missed a good one!!! Well lets
see if I can do a decent recap
-
Jim Krueger crashed his Yenko
on a wild burnout sending everyone
scrambling and the fans clapping
when he got out of the car!
A tough way to become famous
but hey - he is famous now!
The cars not hurt bad mostly
fiberglass and money is all
it will take to fix. Well in
the end - everyone had a good
time racng and working on their
cars even if it was a pretty
hot and humid day! The fans
got to see fast race cars with
blowers and nitrous and Mike
Cooper got to blow by Wayne
Roberts in the final for a big
win! The fastest car in qualifying
is NOT always the winner as
Mike proved AGAIN. Which reminds
me of a saying - it ain't over
till the fat lady sings - or
the win light comes on in your
lane! Mike slapped a .035 light
on ol Wayne and never looked
back. After the run it was determined
that the Camaro tuner (Wayne
himself) was the victim of tuneritis
- messing with the timing of
the ol Camaro's Hemi trying
to kill some bottom end power
- it worked - unfortunately
it killed the mid and top end
as well! Oh well next time.
Which will be the World Street
Nationals in June!
Now we had some HOT racing action
n the Bracket classes as well
- Super Pro in particular -
TJ Longpine - the kid - wins
it all and get this Ryan Curran
runner ups - holy cow the Jr
racers are again taking over
the strip! Only Bobby Mount
could make it into the money
with out being an ex Jr Dragster
racer as Bobby took the black
Maverick to the semis. In Pro
Jay " I'm on a roll"
Smith cuts a .047 light and
is the victor over Cheryl Statts
in a close double breakout race.
Ron Collier and Mike James drove
the distance and finish in the
semis spots. In Sportsman/Footbrake
Robyn Zordel enters at the last
minute and voilla wins the thing
taking out John Chaffin in the
finals! Ray Ketner has his car
dialed in as he made it to the
semis. In Jr Dragster - Trevor
"the Lumberjack" Ruge
cuts down the tree with a .000
perfect light runs 8.01 on a
8.01 dial - yea he won! WOW
TJ Longpine broke out trying
to make it a race - but hey
- he made it up with his Super
Pro win - yea you heard me -
he's racing Super Pro AND Jr
Dragster at the same time -
made it to the finals in both
and won S/P! Alex Weins from
Newton Kansas finished in the
semis spot with very good car
and driver performance! All
in all it was a great race day
with lots of cars in attendance
and of course lots of race fans,
crews and sponsors as well!
Which brings us to the next
two weekends - May 19ths Points
race and first midnight drags
event and May 25ths Friday Street
Heat and of course parking for
the biggest Bracket event of
2007 the Heartland Trailer Sales
- Race for a Trailer on May

prize in all of the midwests
bracket racing - a Pace 24 foot
enclosed race trailer. And get
this entry is only $75 EXCEPT

either - $25 buybacks - race

- Pro, S/P, Sportsman - a combo
race that will make your hair
stand up!
Anyway - enough of my rambling
- time to get ready for the
next race day!
